Poynton Live Gig Review
Desert Wind at Poynton Community Centre
To say that the Poynton Town Mayor's Party Night was a success is a bit of an understatement. Over 60 people turned up at the Community Centre (the Mayor's chosen Charity) on Friday April 22nd 2016 for a night of music and fun. The music was supplied by Desert Wind, one of Poynton’s favourite bands and featuring our very own Andrew Liddie.
Testament to their popularity has to be that fans travelled all the way from Oxford to see them perform. These ‘groupies’ even came equipped with masquerade masks to be sure they entered the spirit of the evening.
As always the band demonstrated why they are so popular, with lovely vocal harmonies and great guitar solos which - if proof were needed - demonstrated their complete musical ability.
Guests rocked and smooched the night away to old favourites such as The Graveyard Shift, Ashes of Love and Now And Then There’s A Fool Such As I. They watched in wonder as Andrew wandered among the guests while performing The Pleasant Beggar on mandolin and marvelled at Pete Bethell’s rendition of When At Last played on his 12 string guitar. Roll on the next time is all I can say.
